No hot water at all

Water heaters on Hollr
Point your phone at the tank, the tankless unit or the puddle underneath. A licensed Canadian plumber or gas fitter tells you what it is, what's safe to try, and whether it needs a visit.
$34 for 15 minutes · $59 for 30 · you only pay when a water heater pro connects
On a gas tank it's often the pilot. On an electric tank, a breaker or a reset button. A pro tells you which from the label.
Most gas tanks have lighting steps on the front label. Follow them with a pro watching, or learn why you shouldn't.
A fitting, the relief valve or the tank itself. Show where it's coming from to learn how urgent it is.
The valve on the side of the tank may be doing its job. They'll tell you whether it points to pressure or temperature.
Usually sediment at the bottom of the tank. Learn whether a flush will help.
Show the display and the model sticker to find out what the code means and what to try first.
Your water heater pro tells you when it's one of these, and why.
Water heaters are serviced by plumbers and gas fitters, both regulated trades in most of Canada. Before a pro takes a Hollr call, we check their certificate with the body that issues it in their province. How Hollr checks licences.
| Where | Regulator | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Ontario | Skilled Trades Ontario | Certificate of Qualification, Plumber (306A). |
| Ontario | Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) | Gas technician certificate (G1, G2 or G3) for gas water heaters. |
| British Columbia | Technical Safety BC | Gasfitter Certificate of Qualification, Class A or Class B. |
| Alberta | Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training | Journeyperson certificate, Plumber or Gasfitter. |
| Across Canada | Red Seal | Interprovincial endorsement for qualified plumbers and gas fitters. |
Often they can get you hot water back or tell you exactly what's wrong. A pilot that's out, a tripped breaker or a tankless error code can usually be sorted on camera. Work on the gas line, the gas valve or the wiring always needs someone on site, and they'll tell you that on the call.
Close the cold water valve on the pipe going into the top of the tank. Don't touch the gas line, and keep clear of hot water from the relief valve. Put a towel or bucket down, then open Hollr and show a pro where it's coming from.
Hollr calls are advice on video, so nobody is sent to your home. If the job needs hands on site, your pro tells you why and what kind of visit to book, and your notes, photos and parts list stay with you for whoever you hire.
$34 CAD for 15 minutes or $59 CAD for 30 minutes. You see the price before the call starts and only pay when a pro connects. A short call can tell you whether you need a visit at all, and what to ask for if you do.
Hollr is launching across Canada. Leave your email and we'll send your invite the day it opens near you.
