Gas fitting on Hollr
Show a licensed Canadian gas fitter the fireplace, the water heater or the appliance that won't light. They tell you what's going on, what's safe for you to do, and what to tell the gas fitter who comes out. If you smell gas, leave first and call your gas utility or 911.
$34 for 15 minutes · $59 for 30 · you only pay when a gas fitter connects

Many gas fireplaces have relighting steps on a label near the controls. A gas fitter can read it with you and tell you if it's safe to try.
Show the tank's label and what happens when you follow it. They'll tell you what that likely means for the repair.
Fireplaces, tankless heaters and boilers show codes. Show the display and the model sticker to learn what it's pointing to.
Get everyone outside and call 911 or your gas utility. Once you're safe, a gas fitter can explain what to ask for on the follow-up visit.
For a range, BBQ or heater. Learn what the job involves, what a permit means and what to ask in a quote.
Your gas fitter tells you when it's one of these, and why.
Gas work is one of the most tightly regulated trades in Canada. Before a gas fitter takes a Hollr call, we check their certificate with the body that issues it in their province. How Hollr checks licences.
| Where | Regulator | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Ontario | Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) | Gas technician certificate, G1, G2 or G3. |
| British Columbia | Technical Safety BC | Gasfitter Certificate of Qualification, Class A or Class B. |
| Alberta | Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training | Journeyperson certificate, Gasfitter – Class A or Class B. |
| Quebec | Emploi-Québec | Gas appliance certificates of qualification, such as TAG-1. Some work also needs a Régie du bâtiment du Québec licence. |
| Across Canada | Red Seal | Interprovincial endorsement for qualified gas fitters. |
For diagnosis, yes. A gas fitter can read an error code, walk you through the relighting steps printed on your appliance, and tell you what a problem likely is. They never walk you through work on gas piping or fittings. That always needs a licensed gas fitter on site.
Leave right away, and leave the door open behind you. Don't flip switches, use the phone inside or light anything. Once you're outside, call your gas utility's emergency line or 911. Don't go back in until they tell you it's safe.
Hollr calls are advice on video, so nobody is sent to your home. If the job needs hands on site, your gas fitter tells you why and what kind of visit to book, and your notes and photos stay with you for whoever you hire.
$34 CAD for 15 minutes or $59 CAD for 30 minutes. You see the price before the call starts and only pay when a gas fitter connects. A short call can tell you whether you need a visit at all, and what to ask for if you do.
